STARGEAR Installs Starlink to Lord Howe Is Airport

STARGEAR were invited by SmartLynx Airlines Australia to install a new Starlink and Wireless Networking solution to the Lord Howe Island Airport

As a proven manufacturer of high-quality Starlink cables, mounts and other accessories, STARGEAR were invited by SmartLynx Airlines Australia to install a new Starlink and Wireless Networking solution to the Lord Howe Island Airport in readiness for the handover from Qantas by the end of 2025.

STARGEAR was engaged to inspect the site with SmartLynx staff, document the existing infrastructure and determine a solution that could work alongside the Qantas Check-in and Baggage processes whilst enabling on-site training of the staff on the new systems.

STARGEAR network engineer designed a solution implementing UniFi Cloud Gateway and UniFi Pro Wireless Access points to build out a high-speed, redundant, cloud managed solution that could be upgraded to provide a full video security solution as required.

The work on site was able to completed quickly and efficiently through the use of a 25m long STARGEAR Heavy Duty Armored Cable to connect the Starlink Gen 3 Dish to the router which removed the necessity to run the ethernet cable inside flexible ducting, or to terminate the cable with generic CAT6 terminals and compromise the weather proofing of the OEM style connectors.

SmartLynx will continue to offer complimentary services alongside Eastern Air Services to provide short haul passenger and freight transport between Lord Howe Island, Sydney, Newcastle, Port Macquarie and the Gold Coast. Stargear will continue to provide managed services for their remote sites.
